About The Shape of Abstraction

The Shape of Abstraction website is a place where you can learn about The Thelma and Bert Ollie Memorial Collection. A collection of Abstract art by five generations of black artists who have revolutionized abstract art since the 1940s. Despite their significant contributions, many of these accomplished artists have remained largely under-recognized and omitted from the existing narrative of art history. However, the re-examination and celebration of this history is underway.

Donations

In addition to their gift of art, Ronald and Monique Ollie have established the Ronald M. and Monique M. Ollie Education Endowment Fund for Abstraction by Black Artists in partnership with The Saint Louis Art Museum. This Endowment Fund provides annual support for public programming for youth, families, and students, including lectures, artist talks, performances, and research fellowships.

We invite you to help carry on the legacy of the Thelma and Bert Ollie Memorial Collection by donating to the Endowment Fund.  Please feel free to submit a check payable to the Saint Louis Art Museum Foundation and mail it to: 1 Fine Arts Drive, St. Louis, MO  63110.  Please write “Ollie Fund” in the memo.
